After graduating from the hit TV show, in 2008 Same Difference embarked on the UK arena tour as part of the X Factor touring show. The tour visited packed arenas all over the UK, with the duo recreating their best loved performances from the show, winning over legions of fans and receiving enthusiastic critic reviews.
Following the X Factor tour, Same Difference went on to sign an album deal with Simon Cowell’s label, Syco, and recorded their debut album with some of the biggest names in pop. Their debut single ‘We R One’ shot into the charts and was shortly followed by the album ‘POP’, which has been certified Gold.
Same Difference then released their second studio album ‘The Rest Is History’ which gained rave reviews from across the globe and put them on the map as a pop powerhouse.
Sarah and Sean are continuing to do what they do best, excite and win over fans with their energetic and engaging performances and endearing personalities. The next step for the duo is to conquer new frontiers here in the UK and to take their passion and contribution to music to the world.
Sarah Smith (prior to Same Difference)
When Sarah was 13 she realised that she wanted pursue a career in the music industry and therefore began performing in pubs and clubs to learn her trade as well as assisting dance teachers with their younger children. She was also a member of the Portsmouth Players where she played many roles in their theatre shows.
After 3 years of singing locally Sarah knew that she wanted to get some professional training and decided to leave her hometown and head to London.
Sarah trained at the Italia Conti Academy of Performing Arts and honed her skills in all aspects of performance. At weekends/holidays she had her own classes teaching dance and singing to children locally.
Whilst at Italia Conti, Sarah gained roles in various Kids TV Shows, appeared in many commercials and was part of the stage show ‘The Rat Pack’.
Since then Sarah has enjoyed great success with pop band ‘Same Difference’ .
Sean Smith (prior to Same Difference)
Sean has been singing and dancing since the age of 7 when he appeared alongside Marti Webb in the hit musical ‘Evita’ and with Brian Blessed in ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Sean caught the bug for performing and hasn’t looked back since.
From the age of 10, Sean began entering talent shows across the country and began to pick up all of the skills needed to put on a fantastic show. He loved to perform and this came over to the judging panels who would regularly give Sean the first prize.
Sean began performing in pubs and clubs at the age of 13 and managed to entertain even the hardest of crowds with every venue returning to rebook him.
When he was 17, Sean got a job performing on Cruise Ships. This is where he came into his own and relished in performing to huge crowds every night. He worked for 2 years on the cruise ships and loved every moment.
On his arrival back to the UK, Sean gained lead singer parts in Spirit Productions ‘Dancing Queen’, ‘Spirit of Broadway’ and ‘Celebration’ and toured the UK performing in sold out venues every night. He also appeared in Pantomimes alongside Anita Dobson, Danny La Rue and Stephen Mulhern. Whilst doing this Sean would also put his experience to good use by teaching workshop classes.
It was whilst he was touring with Spirit Productions that Sean entered the X Factor and began his ‘Same Difference’ journey.
Jamie Wilson, Heights Management
Jamie studied at Newcastle University where he gained a BA Honours in Marketing and Management.
With his strong passion for music management married with his expertise in marketing he set up ‘Heights Management’ as a perfect solution to all Music management and PR needs. He has worked alongside some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry and works closely with agents, record labels and venues on a daily basis.
Jamie is a co-founder of Same Difference Pop Academy and is looking forward to dealing with the business and marketing and to see the young talent that emerges from the Academy.
